Norway lived up to their number one billing by coming back in the afternoon singles to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Finland.

It set up a semi-final clash with England, but the Norwegians are confident they can maintain the form which saw them lead the strokeplay stages and then go on to turn around their quarter-final with a clean sweep of the singles.

The 5-2 victory puts them in good heart for the semi-final clash with Knut Borsheim, pictured left, winning the first of the singles to set them on their way.

“It went a lot better with the whole team, we did not play badly this morning but they played really well – I do not know if we underestimated them.

“We were confident, the strokeplay was a lot of fun, maybe we were too confident but had to take it back this afternoon and it went really well.

“I did not know anything before the 11th hole when I got some good news, then when I won mine I was told we were up in every match so it was fun.

“It is a very good, young team. This is the first time we have the best team because we had a lot of juniors before who played the junior championship.

“It will be exciting against England. We cannot give them a headstart, it would be hard to get back from two down against England so we have to start better.

“We can definitely win this if we play like we did this afternoon.”
