When looking at the list of previous venues for this event, it really is a great honour for the Club to be staging such a prestigious event in mens’ amateur golf.
However, this Championship could not take place without a huge amount of hard work and preparation and I am very grateful to all from Conwy and from the Golf Union of Wales who have given their time and energy in order to ensure a successful and enjoyable week. Most importantly, I am indebted to David Lewis and his green keeping team, who have worked tirelessly to produce a test of golf, befitting this great occasion in the Club's history.
I extend our welcome to all visitors this week and hope that they will be inspired to return here and experience the challenge of our course for themselves.
To the players, whatever the result, win or lose, I know that you will be made most welcome here and I hope you will take away some great memories of your week in Conwy.
